Unbeknownst to most, the largest of the three major academic groups is the one comprised of those who receive and maintain a "C" average or below, not the groups of students that maintain either an "A" or "B" average. Unfortunately, this group is virtually overlooked when it comes to scholarship aid. In fact, many programs do not provide for students who are passing with grades of less than an "A" or "B."
Maintaining a "C" average could easily be attributed to the impact of circumstances related to being less privileged. Our mission is to help those for whom reaching their maximum potential and achieving the "American Dream" is very challenging.
We provide direct scholarship funding and financial support to aspiring and deserving students who work diligently, and through determination and commitment to success, are able to achieve and maintain a "C" average. We seek out students who can demonstrate and document that they are less privileged, have maintained a marginal, but passing, grade of "C" and have made a continuing honest effort to, and have a desire and are committed to, continue working toward the completion of a higher education program. These students deserve the same opportunity of a higher education that is afforded to those students who achieve an "A" or "B" average.
This is why we, here at The Haynes and Frederick Scholarship Fund, help to provide these up and coming scholars, not only from Prince George's County but throughout the Washington-Metropolitan Area, with the opportunity to build a brighter tomorrow by making available to them the support and financial aid that is ordinarily unavailable to them. |
